Pillows, Pillows, and More Pillows!

Pillows have been on my mind for the past few weeks. Pillows from Ron's shirts that is. I asked the kind folks at the Bernia store in Hanover, PA to embroider a statement of prose on his old shirts. Then those shirts were made into pillow covers (all removable and washable!) and one ball. One shirt pillow has part of another shirt attached to the new pillow cover. These items were made for our grandchildren and our great, great niece and nephews. The internment for Ron was this past Sunday afternoon, and afterwards we all had dinner at the Old Country Buffet. I wanted these young children to have a very tangible and personal thing from Ron -- their Poppa or Uncle. Ron was a well-loved man!

I was blessed to be married to Ron for nearly 47 years.  His death has left a huge hole in the hearts of many people -- not the least is my own heart. So this blog post is a sharing from my heart moment.

Anything that helps to ease the pain is good. This is a wonderful thing that you have done, a cushion to cuddle.

What a great idea, Judy. This way they can hug a part of their Poppa whenever they want. Did you make one for yourself? Hugs and prayers for you and your family as you begin this new reality of life.

So sorry for your loss Judy, Last fall my BIL passed away, when my sister was going through his things and giving away the clothing, I told her about making the shirts into pillows with the buttons down the center or making them into an apron. That is a good idea making the monogram on them too. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry to hear of your loss Judy! I think that is a most awesome idea to make pillow covers for the young loved ones...it makes the passing a little more bearable.

I am so sorry for your loss; You have given your Grandchildren something of their Poppas to take with them through their life's journey. What a wonderful gift and keepsake. I hope you thought of yourself as well. Thanks for sharing
