Hats and More Hats!

Most of these Technique Junkies stamps qualify as an "oldie but goodie" stamp collections.  The three sets of Technique Junkie stamps I used are: Hats Off - http://techniquejunkies.com/hats-off ; Vintage Travel Cases,- http://techniquejunkies.com/vintage-travel-cases-set-of-5/
; and Happy Father's Day (a May 2017 Release) - http://techniquejunkies.com/happy-fathers-day/.   I also used Distress Oxide inks -    http://techniquejunkies.com/12-pack-of-ranger-tim-holtz-distress-oxide-in-pads/ -  to create the vintage on the vanilla card stock I used to create all of the elements on this card.

I heat embossed with dark brown ink and clear embossing powder on the large trunk, the hat in the oval, and the greeting.  The base card and all of the various element are layered on vanilla card stock.  To get the bottom layered oval I punched out two  vanilla ovals.  I cut both of them in half.  One was cut in half horizontally and the other was cut in half vertically.   Then I just layered them. I wrapped line thread around my fingers, then twisted it a bit an adhered the thread to glue dots underneath the oval.

It is a very masculine card -- and it was relatively easy.

The Art of God

I chose to use Twinkling H2Os to create the background.  I lightly - very lightly - spritzed the card stock with water and smeared it around to cover. Then I added various colors of the Twinkling H2Os to please my own eye. I heat set it to dry so as to not warp the card stock any more than necessary.  I used my embossing buddy packet over the top so I could create a "clean" space in which to heat emboss the focal image.

I stamped the image with Versafine Black ink and used clear embossing powder over the image. Then I heat set it all. I repeated the above process for the verse.

The stamps I used are Watercolor Flowers - http://techniquejunkies.com/watercolor-flowers/; and Art of God - http://techniquejunkies.com/art-of-god/.

I used a glitter pen around the edge of the layers of card stock, a ribbon, and a ribbon flower from my stash.

Have a great day and get inky!

Cats and More Cats!

These two Technique Junkies stamp images go together so well!  The stamps are Crazy Cat Border - , and Cats and More Cats - http://techniquejunkies.com/cats-and-more-cats/  . I used Distress Oxide inks - http://techniquejunkies.com/12-pack-of-ranger-tim-holtz-distress-oxide-in-pads/  - in a manner similar to the Antique Glimmers technique and then heat dried the card stock. And these wonderful inks are eligible for the 10% off discount code on my sidebar.  I stamped the image with Versafine black ink and cover the image with clear embossing powder and heat set.

Then I randomly painted some of the cats with Twinkly H2Os.  I didn't paint all of them by any means - perhaps only about 9 cat faces were painted.

The card stock with the trunk trunks had been embossed in an embossing folder and then the raised parts with highlighted with regular Distress inks.

The verse was stamped and heat embossed, punched and the border in black was also punched out, cut in half and used to create a border for the verse. A ruffled ribbon was added at the bottom.

Have a great day and get inky!

Be Beautiful!

This card encompasses a variety of media. I used Art Anthology Colorations sprays - http://techniquejunkies.com/products-and-accessories/art-anthology-products/
, Copic markers, sponging, Twinkling H2Os, and Wink of Stella pens.  Embellishments include lace, bling for the ear rings, and a tiny ribbon flower.  It also qualifies for the Oldie but Goodie challenge.

All of the stamps used are Technique Junkie stamps: Dragonfly Collage - http://techniquejunkies.com/dragonfly-collage /, Veiled Woman - http://techniquejunkies.com/own-kind-of-beautiful/, and Own Kind of Beautiful - http://techniquejunkies.com/own-kind-of-beautiful/.

I first sprayed the white card stock with the Art Anthology Coloration Sprays.  I stamped the Dragonfly Collage stamp, and then highlighted certain areas with Twinkling H2Os.  The Veiled Woman was stamped with black Memento ink and colored with Copic markers. I used Wink of Atella over her hat and coat to add visual interest. The verse was stamped with black Versafine ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I used the clear Wink of Stella pen over the heart. The edges of both the verse and the woman were sponged with blue ink.

The lace trim on the bottom on the woman was adhered with red line tape on the back.

Have a wonderful day, and get inky!

Crazy Cat Border Bookmark

This is a birthday card for one of my daughters.  It encompasses two of her loves (besides her family of course!).  She loves cats, and loves to read.

I used three Technique Junkie Stamps - Crazy Cat Border - http://techniquejunkies.com/crazy-cat-border/, one of the sayings in the Bookworms set - http://techniquejunkies.com/bookworms-set-of-6/ , and Random ABC background -  http://techniquejunkies.com/random-abcs/.

I created the background paper for both the first layer and the the book mark with Distress Oxide inks - http://techniquejunkies.com/12-pack-of-ranger-tim-holtz-distress-oxide-in-pads/  -  in the same manner as the Antique Glimmers technique. And these wonderful inks are eligible for the 10% off discount code on my sidebar. I used Twinkling H2Os and randomly colored in some of the cats on the bookmark and the pocket frame.

Since adhesives show through under vellum, I created a frame from card stock stamped with the Crazy Cat border stamp.  I adhered the vellum with my ATG adhesive, and attached it to the base card with the same adhesive.

I tied ribbons through the tag hole to pull the book mark out.  My daughter will love all of this!

Have a wonderful day -- and get inky!

Birthday Balloons

On Saturday I will attend the birthday party for twin daughters of a friend of mine.   I believe they turn 13.  I created similar cards but different.  Although these twins are both girls they are very definitely fraternal.  Not only do they not look alike, their personalities are totally different.

These are the cards I created. The colors are the same but flipped.  I am showing you the outside of one and the inside of the second.
I created the background paper on the front using Distress Oxide inks - http://techniquejunkies.com/12-pack-of-ranger-tim-holtz-distress-oxide-in-pads/ .
Obviously most of the images on the card are from dies.  I added Wink of Stella on the balloons and the bows. However, I did use a Technique Junkies Stamp - Birthday Wishes - http://techniquejunkies.com/birthday-wishes/.  I stamped one word on each side of the banner.  Here is a close-up view.

I hope the girls enjoy their birthday card!

Have a wonderful day and get inky!

Happy Father's Day!

Every now then we really like a simple card -- especially if it is for a man.  Men do not usually like a fru-fru type card.  This card fits that need.

This is also a shaker card.  I chose a bunch of trip related/masculine background papers and punch them out.  I also punched out a hole.  The word "GO" is behind the sprinkle stuff for the shaker card. Hopefully, some day the static may dissipate and the sprinke stuff will become unstaticy and move freely behind the acetate.

I used the words Happy Father's Day on the front of the car.  It is a Technique Junkies stamp and is a May Release - http://techniquejunkies.com/happy-fathers-day/.

Have a great day -- and get inky!

A Beautiful Ride

Both stamps used on this card today are Technique Junkies stamps. The background stamps is called - French Bicycle Collage - http://techniquejunkies.com/french-bicycle-collage/. The verse is a May Release stamp - http://techniquejunkies.com/may-2017-release/.  It the first stamp shown.  While it is paired with  bicycle stamps for the example on the TJ website, it could easily go with the following types of stamps:

  1. riding on a bicycle
  2. riding on a motorcycle
  3. riding on a roller coaster
  4. riding on a ship
  5. riding on a horse
  6. riding on a plane
  7. riding in a car
  8. riding in a wheelchair
  9. riding on a merry-go-'round
  10. riding on a train
  11. riding all kinds of animals other than horses (elephants, camels, mules, ostriches, and more)
  12. riding a wave
  13. riding a scooter
  14. riding a tricycle
  15. riding a pogo-stick
  16. riding in a canoe
  17. and more!
Can you think of more things to ride on other than what I listed?  I would be interested to know what you thought of!

Suggested by Velda;
1. Riding roller blades and roller skates
2. Riding a hover board (until it catches fire!)
3. Riding a rocket to the space station!

Suggested by Laurel:
1. Riding an escalator
2. Riding an elevator
3. Riding a wave
4. Riding the wind.

I colored the image with my Copic markers, sponged the edges, and layered the card and the verse.

Have a great day and get inky!

Beautiful!

So many times our culture equates beauty with youth.  It just isn't so.  Beauty is from inside.  What is on the outside is only the shell -- the covering of our true beauty.

So I chose to use these Technique Junkie Hat Ladies - http://techniquejunkies.com/hat-ladies/
and pair that image with the Technique Junkie May "Release of Own Kind of Beautiful - http://techniquejunkies.com/own-kind-of-beautiful/  .
.

I used a stencil -  http://techniquejunkies.com/medallion-fade-stencil/  - and Art Anthology Colorations sprays- http://techniquejunkies.com/products-and-accessories/art-anthology-products/
 -  for the background.  The ladies are colored with Copic Markers.  I used Prills and gold stuff from my stash.  I placed a ribbon around the top two layers and tied a bow and attached it with a glue dot.  The buttons are tiny pearls that are self adhesive.

Don't forget that Monday is the last day for the 15% for the Technique Junkies May releases.  Here is the direct link for those. http://techniquejunkies.com/may-2017-release/ .

For everything else you can use the coupon code on my side bar for 10% of everything else.  It is a good deal!

Happy Father's Day!

For this card, I used the new May release Technique Junkies stamps of Pocketwatches  - http://techniquejunkies.com/pocketwatches/   and Happy Father's Day -  http://techniquejunkies.com/happy-fathers-day/  .  If you want to see all of the May release, you can do that here - http://techniquejunkies.com/may-2017-release/ .  And please remember that there is a 15% off discount through May 8 for each and everyone of the new Technique Junkies Stamps May releases.

To create this card, the image was stamped on heavy gold card stock. I used a tan embossing powder over the Versamark stamped Pocketwatches image.  Then I used a clear ?Wink of Stella marker over the gold card card stock to add additional shimmer.   The verse was stamped on gold card stock with black Versafine ink and embossed with detail black embossing powder.

Both the focal image and the greeting were layered on  a tan card stock, and then black card stock.   I added a tan felt rick rack on the bottom edge of the greeting.

All of the elements work together very well to create a masculine card for this important holiday to remember our Fathers.

This was a very easy card to create and would be relatively easy to duplicate.

So have you taken advantage the sale for this month for Technique Junkies?  If not -- have you tjoughj why haven't I created my order?

Have a great day, and get inky!

Oh Happy May! And Happy Blog Hop Day!

May is a glorious month.  In most parts of the country, we know winter is really over.  Snow is pretty to look at, fun for kids to play, but it is cold.  The older I get the less I like the cold!  Which is why I spent from January 4 to April 11 in Florida.  And I came back too soon!  It is still too cold here!  May generally brings thoughts of gardens and flowers.  And May also brings NEW Technique Junkies stamps!  And they are great!  So sit back and enjoy!

Here is the link for the entire May Technique Junkies Stamps May Release - techniquejunkies.com/may-2017-release/.  And Pat is offering all of these lovely stamps with a 15% off discount through May 8!

If you didn't come to me from Beth Norman: http://www.sunflowers-dragonflies.ca/, then you should start here for the full Blog Hop rotation: http://techniquejunkies.blogspot.com/ .   And of course, all stamps on this post are Technique Junkies Stamps.

This is my first card.  I was very happy to get this stamp!  This reminds me of one of my precious grandchildren.  I have jillions and jillions of pictures of my grandchildren.. You should see all of my scrapbooks!  But can I find a picture in the same pose as this stamp -- of course not.  But here is one I found -
And the other thing you need to know is the verse is so so so like my special girl!  Her thoughts and ideas and language skills are above her years.  We knew she gifted in language when she was 2 1/2 and using 10 word sentences correctly.   And in first grade  she was reading chapter books the first of October.  Now I know there are other children who were doing these things earlier than she did them and those children are super uber bright.  But as a retired first grade teacher what she was doing was still much earlier than the norm.  Her sisters are also bright -- but normally bright. And no one compares the girls academic achievement to each other. We love them all the same!

This little girl is stamped  with Memento black ink and colored in with Copic markers. It is called Big Dreams - www.techniquejunkies.com/big-dreams/.   I also used a very fine tipped black pen to go over and highlight her lovely curls. Stickles glitter glue are the spots on her  shirt.

I used an Art Anthology stencil with Art Anthology Colorations sprays for the background.  The first was stamped with Versafine black and heat embossed with detail black embossing powder.

My next card uses stamps called Pocket Watches - http://techniquejunkies.com/pocketwatches/   and Happy Father's Day - www.techniquejunkies.com/happy-fathers-day/.

It is a photo stamp and sometimes those can be a little tricky to stamp neatly and cleanly. So I will share a tip with you on I was able to get this clean image with a photo stamp.  Most photo stamps have a lot of detail and a lot of fine lines in the rubber of the stamp.  It is important that all of those lines have ink on them in order to get a crisp image.  I used white glossy card stock.  '
do not use photo paper.  Photo paper has emulsion stuff on the surface  which when liquid hits turns to a mess unless it is ink designed to print on photo paper.  I used dye based ink.  I use a rubber brayer to ink the stamp. Run the brayer across the wide edge of the ink pad a few times.  Do not load a ton of ink on the brayer.  Then run the brayer  from the bottom or the top of the rubber inking it up. Then reink your brayer.  Now run the brayer from side to side on the rubber.  This way you will know for sure that all of the tiny detailed lined lines on the stamp will have ink.  Now pick up your glossy card stock and lay the glossy side down on the surface of the stamp.  Hold it in place, and gently press your fingers across the back of the card stock.   Gently pull the card stock off of the stamp and lay it aside to fully air dry or dry it with a heat tool.   One it is dry you can   layer it as much as you wish.  I heat embossed the greeting with clear embossing powder on vellum.  I used my Xyron machine to add adhesive tot he back of the vellum.  A few black beads finishes the card.

My last card uses Watercolor Birds - www.techniquejunkies.com/…/www.techniquej…/watercolor-birds/ and only one word from Beauty of Winter -http://techniquejunkies.com/beauty-of-winter/  .  I stamped the Watercolor Birds stamp with Versafine black ink and heat embossed it with detail black embossing powder.  I did the same with the word Discover.  I used my Twinkling H2Os to paint the image.    I cut around the word and the layer of blue card stock.  I attached with ribbon  as an embellishment.

And here is the rotation for the full Technique Junkies Design Team -- and we have new members and their work is just awesome!  Be sure to look at each one's art work.

And don't forget there is that 15% discount through May 8 on the May Release Technique Junkies Stamps.
Have a wonderful day and get inky!

Beach Day Tye Dye! - April Technique Challenge!

This is a look back to a previously released stamp and the Technique Junkie April Challenge with the Tye Dye technique from here - http://www.patstamps.com/tutorials_artwork/04-14/Tie_Dye_Circles_Tutorial.pdf.    I added a light bit of sponging between Tye Dye circles just so it wasn't so stark white.

I used two stamps from the Technique Junkie stamp line.  The focal image is Seagrass Lighthouse - http://techniquejunkies.com/seagrass-lighthouse/  . The verse is Beach Day - http://techniquejunkies.com/beach-day/.

I  used  Copic markers to color the focal image, and sponged in the sky.  Lots of layers, and a ruffled ribbon finish the card.

Have you tried this April Challenge?  It is easy!  Have a great day and get inky!

Distress Oxide Birds

Like many of you I purchased the new set of Distress Oxide ink pads and reinkers.  The good news is that i have mine and I would guess many of you are still waiting for yours to arrive.  They are sold in Pat Huntoon's Technique Junkies store - http://techniquejunkies.com/12-pack-of-ranger-tim-holtz-distress-oxide-in-pads/.  The reinkers are available here - http://techniquejunkies.com/search.php?search_query=distress+oxide+reinker  .

I used the pads to create a background like the Antique Glimmers technique.  Then I inked the Technique Junkies stamp - Birds On A Branch Silhouette - http://techniquejunkies.com/birds-on-a-branch-silhouette/.  I used the verse Hope is the Thing - http://techniquejunkies.com/hope-is-the-thing/.  Both stamps were heat embossed with detail black embossing powder.

The focal image was layered, the verse punched out and layered and bling attached.

Have a wonderful day and get inky!

Better Than Unicorns!

I used a lovely stencil and Nuvo Glimmer paste to create this focal image panel.  http://techniquejunkies.com/nuvo-products/?sort=featured&page=2 .  The Technique Junkies stamp is called Unicorns and Sparkly - http://techniquejunkies.com/unicorns-and-sparkly/  .

The verse is heat embossed with detail black embossing powder.   This is such a cute saying and can be used for a  variety of occasions.   A ribbon bow was added for interest.

Live in the Present

I used these two Technique Junkies Stamps - Return to Sender - http://techniquejunkies.com/return-to-sender/ and Live in the Present -  http://techniquejunkies.com/live-in-the-present/.

To create this card I used several cans of Art Anthology Coloration sprays - http://techniquejunkies.com/products-and-accessories/art-anthology-products/. I just spritzed the spray, heat set to dry (you can just let them air dry).   I used my MISTI to stamp and restamp in exactly the same position until the stamped image was clear, crisp, and dark.   The verse is stamped on vellum, and heat embossed on vellum.  I layered it over some white card stock and adhered it to the focal image of the card.  A string of beads were added for interest.

Have a great day and get inky!

The background is created with a stencil and Art Anthology Colorations Spray - http://techniquejunkies.com/patience-colorations-art-anthology/.

I used dye based markers to color in the floral stems.  Then I added Diamond Glaze over each floral bud.  I tied a bow with white organza ribbon and adhered it with a glue dot.

I sponged a pale blue for the sky and then added  fuchsia ink on the edges of  focal panel with a sponge.

The Queen

This glittery card was created with the stencil Circle Mosaic - http://techniquejunkies.com/circle-mosaic-stencil/ - and Nuvo glimmer paste - http://techniquejunkies.com/nuvo-glimmer-paste-golden-crystal/. I tied a double bow and added a tiny gold and white bowl on top around the gold layer.

The "Qeen" stamp is a Technique Junkie March Release stamp - http://techniquejunkies.com/queen/.  I stamped her with black Versafine ink and heat embossed with detail black embossing powder. I added color with Twinkling H2Os and red lipstick (barely visible in the photo) with a Copic marker.

I popped her up with dimensional tape and decided I was finished.

Hope your day is great and get inky!

Friendly Daisies

To create this lovely spring card I used Technique Junkies Spring Daisies - http://techniquejunkies.com/spring-daisies/. I used black Memento  ink and then used both Copic markwers and watercolors to add the color to this panel.  The verse on the tag is called A Good Friend - http://techniquejunkies.com/spring-daisies/ - and is a wonderfully true thought.  Good friends are are very real treasures.

The verse was stamped with black Versafine ink and heat embossed with  detail black embossing powder. I punched out the shape and several "ribbon tags" of both green and gold glitter paper.  I adhered the "ribbon tags" with glue dots, and used several layers to finish the card.

Have a great day and get inky!

Performance Giraffe

This fun giraffe stamp is one of the new Technique Junkie March release stamps called Watercolor Giraffe - http://techniquejunkies.com/watercolor-giraffe/.   To make the tree leaves I used Technique Junkie stamps Something Will Grow - http://techniquejunkies.com/something-will-grow/ - being careful to only put ink on one side of the petals. The verse is from the Technique Junkie stamp set called Mae West Sentiments - http://techniquejunkies.com/mae-west-sentiments/.

To create the background I used a mylar stencil and Art Anthology Colorations spray in yellow.

The giraffe was stamped with black Versafine ink and heat embossed with detail black embossing powder.  Then I used Twinkling H2Os to add color.    The verse was also heat embossed with detail black powder.  I wrapped some burlap ribbon around the giraffe layer and tied a knot.

Have a great day, and get inky!

Baby Makes Three

All stampers are human.  All humans make mistakes.  A mistake I made recently was to forget about stamp conditioning.  See Pat Huntoon's own blog here for the "how to" for stamp conditioning -
http://patstamps.blogspot.com/search/label/Stamp%20Conditioning .  Stamp conditioning is VERY, VERY, VERY important when you are using a mostly solid stamp.  It is difficult to get an excellently stamped image of a solid stamp without stamp conditioning.

So tonight I remembered to condition this Technique Junkie March release stamp called Baby Makes Three - http://techniquejunkies.com/baby-makes-three/.  I also used the MISTI to be sure I was getting a good dark image.

I stamped the image on the same green as the base card.  I used black Versafine ink and heat embossed with detail black embossing powder. Layers include a white glitter paper and a stenciled pattern with Art Anthology Colorations spray in Green Apple - http:/
/techniquejunkies.com/granny-smith-colorations-art-anthology/.   An organdy bow finishes the card.

Have a great day and get inky!

Love and Laughter

If you have follow my blog you will know I have been very busy at my Florida home.  Tonight was the first time I have held a stamp in my hand for weeks.  It will be another rainy day tomorrow so I will be stamping!
This lovely card was created with a tag I made at the Technique Junkie booth at StampFest in New Port Richey, Florida in February.   It used a stencil Pat sells in her Technique Junkie booth and on. line called Lite Brite Flowers Stencil - http://techniquejunkies.com/lite-brite-flowers-stencil/. We used Nuvo Mouse (only one of the available colors) - http://techniquejunkies.com/nuvo-mousse-lilac-lavendar/) and Art Anthology sprays (only one of the available colors) - http://techniquejunkies.com/avocado-colorations-art-anthology.

Then I stamped the verse only from the Technique Junkie March release stamp called Love and Laughter Floral - http://techniquejunkies.com/love-and-laughter-floral/.   To be sure I only inked up the verse since it is very close to the flowers, I cut between the two - leaving the same shape so I know exactly where to stick it back together on an acrylic block.  The verse is stamped on pink vellum with Versafine black ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

I used Nuvo Crystal Drops to create the embellishment dots and swirls in the corner.

Have a great day and get inky!

Soon and Very Soon

I am so glad to be able to use my kitchen again.  I have a pie baking as I type this. The kitchen renovation here in my Florida home is nearing completion. Hooray!

This is the semi- finished view.  There is one cupboard missing between the microwave and the over the sink cupboard.   There was some miscommunication between me and the kitchen designer.  Fortunately -- Lowe's accepted them back and I was able to get a refund on my credit card.  And the correct size cupboard should be here on Thursday.

A tile back splash is still to be installed as well as the door and drawer handles.
There will be 3 rows of the subway tile, then 3 rows of the accent tiles, then the rest will be in the subway tile. It will be pretty yet not expensive.
The stove, microwave, and new refrigerator all work great.  All three appliances are not the high end of their lines.  They are all pretty basic.  The refrigerator has no ice-maker or water dispense. It keeps thinks cold, and the freezer freezes things and doesn't make noise or leak inside.

The counter top doesn't have a swollen bulge at the corner seam and doesn't stain with every spill.

But why would do I do this task for a 3-4 month home?  All of the above would be reasons, plus these features:
This is the half lazy-susan in the blind corner cabinet, which pulls out and swings around. It gives me full access to the corner where you cannot reach.  It is a wonderful feature.

This is the spice cupboard.  It is a base cupboard and there is access to the spices on both sides.  It is a nine inch wide cupboard.

AddThis is the nine inch wide "cookie sheet" cupboard.  It holds cookie sheets, and other baking pans.

And here the first pie -- it is raspberry!

And now things are out of  cardboard boxes, the folding table is put away, and we can progress with the handles, and the back splash, and other  things to finish up.  And stamping can resume!

Have a great day and get inky!  I will be doing that myself!

A Simple Mickey Card

As I was going through my limited supplies here in Florida I came across  this background paper.  All of a sudden in my mind I could see the stairs to the side as Mickey is getting ready to climb up the stairs. And I used a new March Technique Junkie release Take the First Step. http://techniquejunkies.com/taking-the-first-step/ .

I stamped the verse over Mickey and heat embossed white embossing powder over white pigment ink.  I die cut the stairs and adhered them to the left of Mickey.  I added the little square studs on the stairs.  I added all of this in layers to the base card.

And then I looked at the card and decided it still needed something! So I decided to use my Wink of Stella pen on the darker areas of Mickey.  It worked well.

I am just glad the scan showed up well.

Have a great day and get inky!

More Cupboard Saga

So the wet, damp flooring has been replaced.  New electrical outlets have run for both work on the counter, the refrigerator, and new under cabinets lights.  And neighbor friends came and helped my handyman install the upper cupboards.  Everything was going so smoothly you just knew there was going to be a problem, or two, or three, or so.

Boom, first problem. One corner of one upper cupboard was cracked and the plastic corner protective thingie was clearly cracked so somewhere in transit this cupboard was dropped.

This cupboard is 33 inches long.  The next issue was that somehow, although I had taken in the correct measurements of 118 inches for the length of the cupboard on the sink wall, cupboards were ordered for 135 inches.  So installation of upper cupboards was at a halt.  And of course there would be cupboards that were too long for the wall on the base cupboard.

I went to Lowe's to return two under cupboard lights and get the right sizes.  And I wanted to talk to Haydee, my new kitchen friend!  The return was easy, finding the right lights were a little more problematic and I need to return one more and get another motion sensor under cabinet light because the switch for the light is a rolling switch and where it is placed on the cord would be inside the cupboard under dishes or glasses.   While I was at Lowe's my friends called to say the corner cupboard may not fit.  And a chip is on the edge of the door of this cupboard. And  I forget to tell Haydee while I am there.

Haydee will come out this afternoon about 3:30-4:00.

So installation of the lower cupboards was stalled. So my handyman, Burl,  took his wife to get her perm, and came back.   My neighbors went home. Burl's wife was done and he went back to get her.

I come home, one neighbor comes in to update my on all that is going on here.  And Burl returns.  So I eat my lunch - everyone else has already eaten.  Burl and I discuss the corner cupboard.  I had already looked for the paper work on the new refrigerator being delivered in the morning and it is 32 inches wide not 33 inches wide.  If Burl trims off 1/4 inch of the cupboard overhang, the new refrigerator will fit  with 1/8th inch to spare!  YEAH!

So the corner cupboard is trimmed, and the sink base cupboard can be installed.  Holes have to be cut to place the hot and cold water feeds and the sink drain.  Burl has already moved the drain pipe slightly so it will completely fit inside the sink base cupboard.  That is better than cutting into the corner cupboard to make the former placement of the drain pipe inside the corner cupboard.  This way if there ever was a problem, then the  drain pipe can be accessed easily and that is a good thing.

The holes are cut, a neighbor and Burl lift the sink base cupboard over the pipes.  I am on my hands and knees guiding the pipes through the holes.  UH,OH! The holes for the hot and cold pipes is not big enough.  So off goes the cupboard, and I go make a phone call I need to make.  And I hear these words from Burl, "Oh no!!"  I come out to discover the  hot water pipe has broken off below the floor!    But yeah, there is enough pipe below the floor to pull up and all will be OK!  The holes are cut larger into one hole and i guide the pipes through. There will be something to plug that holes so various  sundry  Florida critters cannot have an open invitation from below my home to inside my home to party.

Haydee comes and inspects everything. More measurements are take. Former cupboards are loaded in my car to be returned to Lowe's in the morning.  And the correct cupboard ordered.

So here is where I am at this point.

One more weekend with no counter top and no kitchen sink.  Burl will come in the morning sometime to hook the cupboard with the drawers to the sink base cupboard, adjust the 220 plug connection to the wall so it fits flush, and install the spice drawers to the wall.

Won't these be wonderful?

But I can start putting things in cupboard tonight.  I borrowed a large cooler for cold stuff in the morning so the new refrigerator can be installed, and the old one hauled away.

Next week the sink and counter top will be installed. the tip outs at the sink front installed, drawer shelves installed, the half lazy-susan installed in the corner, and perhaps the tile back splash can begin.

Even though Burl is almost 82, he is in very popular demand as a handy man.  And sometime next week another homeowner has 12 windows  arriving for installation.  So my kitchen saga will continue, and we wait for the 15 inch upper cupboard to arrive.

So as you cook and work in your kitchen, think of me.
