Being Your Sister

One  of the new dies this year that I have observed -- and confess that I have bought -- are piercing dies.  We don't have to use a needle tool and heavy plastic to pierce our paper, we can run the card stock through our machines and with one swipe we have pierce the card stock in an all over pattern.  I was able to achieve the green highlights in the pierced holes by painting a thin coat of green Shimmering Bliss spray all over the back.  The green spray soaked into the pierced holes and highlighted the holes! It really didn't take very much of the spray to create this great look.

The focal image is Sister Birthday!  I stamped it in black Versafine  ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I used dye based markers to color in the image.

So Much Older

This card's background is completely created with the use of blending brushes and two Colorful Life Designs stencil sets.  One is the Skyline Edger stencil and the Cloud Edger Stencil.   These are the steps I used:1. Create the top set of buildings with a light tan dye based ink, and then a dark brown dye based ink to night the windows.  Then I created the first row of  bushes with light green first, and then with a much darker green just at the edge to define the upper edge of the bushes and trees.  Then I created the next set of buildings just as I did the first set.  Then I repeated the same process several times for the bushes/trees.  This slim line card will fit into a standard business sized envelope.  I used my embossing buddy over the ink so I could heat emboss without having stray embossing powder particles  here and there causing embossed flecked areas.  The verse I used is Older Than We Are.   Don't we all think we look younger than other folks our own age?

Still Some Hope!!

This card uses the other panel I created with Opalite reinkers called Opalite Smoosh.  This technique came from the February 2005 issue of the Technique Junkie newsletter.   One of the benefits of this technique is that you get two background panels.  The verse panel is Birthday Eye Chart

Not Old

I used Sparkling Celebration for the background image.  I inked it up with Versamark ink all over.  Then I used dye based markers coloring the various star bursts with different colors.  Then I reinked it all with Versamark ink.  Then I dipped the panel into clear embossing powder and heat set it all.    I have two Versamark ink pads.  One is very dirty and is used for techniques such as this one.  Then the other one is totally clean and I ONLY use it on stamps that are truly clean from any residual ink left on stamps.  Then I used Inside Out: Young at Heart for the outside and the inside verses.

Happy Birthday!!

This card uses several Technique Junkies stamp sets to create a collage look. I first used several colors of alcohol  inks to create the splotchy look.  Then I used a flower die that I used blending brushes to apply Distress Oxide inks on the various colors.  I spritzed on Dazzle Shimmering Bliss Topper on the flower after assembling together.  The Technique Junkies stamps I used are Inside Out: Young at HeartHere We go Round in CirclesKey Script, Ephemera Collage,  and a small portion of ONLY the script from Butterfly Flourish Collage.  The collage elements were stamped with either white or black pigment inks and then heat embossed with clear embossing powders.

Just a Number!!

I used Ribbon Celebration for the background and Inside Out: Young At Heart.   This verse set is good for the matching outside and the inside verse.  I was going for a simple card that would be easy to copy.  This is just  gold embossed panels on a deep purple card stock.

Birthday Wishes

Slim Line cards are all the rage right now.    I used Slimline Candles  for the focal image, and part of Kisses and Wishes.  I colored the candles with my Copic markers. I used a white gel pen  for the white squiggles.

A Birthday Gift

To create this background I used Opalite reinkers.  I learned this technique from the Technique Junkie newsletter in the February 2005 issue.  The technique is Opalite Smoosh.  This technique is quite easy.  Then I used Sister Birthday for the focal image. I colored it with  my Copic markers.

My Altered Book

Several years ago -- perhaps many years ago, it was close to 8 years ago -- I participated in a weekly stamping group.  Usually we just brought what ever we were working on for ourselves.  But once in a while we would work on a group project.  We did it for birthdays, for Christmas, and sometimes just for fun.  One of our members (I think it was my friend, Diane) had this idea for covering pages in a book  to "alter it."  Each of us was to take a season and plan for two pages. Then we would each do our own cover and add any fold out sections or pockets we wanted to add.  For some reason, we never finished this project.  At least I didn't and I don't know if any of the rest finished theirs.

Then I found it this past summer when I moved.  I decided to bring and I promised myself I would finish it.  I wanted it to be a "faith book" and the pages filled with poems and Scriptures that were meaningful to me in some way.   The only pictures would be of me and my hubby.  I didn't start out with that in mind.  It just worked out that way.

The stamps I used are from a variety of companies and I would know a few companies.  I used some die cuts that I created recently.  I used some Artist Trading Cards  that I created years ago.  I also used other images I have purchased.    Please enjoy this book.

This is the cover.

This is the inside of the cover --

Then the winter pages ---

The Spring pages ---

It was hard to get the pages to lay flat.

The summer pages -- and they had some fold out flaps.

The fall pages, and yes, there are fold out flaps.

Here is a clearer view of the last Fall page.

And now the summer pages -- with a pocket, and flaps. The page on the right has an image stamped by Jane Bosi.   I saved it and hoped I would just be able to CASE it at best or use it!  I have told Jane  That I have used it in my book.

This is the end of my book.    I hope you have enjoyed looking at it.

Have a great day and get inky.
