Sunsets Are Proof

Did you know Technique Junkies has several wave type stamps?  Some stamps are not related to ocean waves.  I used Whitecaps for the bottom 2/3 or so of my card.   I stamped it with a paler blue dye based ink.  Then I used blending brushes to dd more color to the water.  I used a long sticky note to extend the width of the card  front to create the horizon line.   I then flipped the same sticky note and covered the water. I used the Cloud Edger Stencil to create the sunset in the clouds.  I used blending brushes to add the various colors.  I drew a black line with a Sharpie marker on the back so I knew where the horizon line was on the stamp Pier Sunset.  Then I could pretty well match up the horizon lines on the card.    I used a finger dauber to add the color for the sun.  I used Versafine black pigment ink  for both Pier Sunset and the verse from Sunset Sentiments.  They were heat embossed with detail clear embossing powder.

Comes in Waves

I turned and tipped Palm Trees to show the trees hanging over the ocean.  I used dye based based markers to color the leaves directly to the stamp.  I used a stamping platform to be able to exactly position both the leave d the water of the Big Wave.  The clouds were created using my Cloud Edger stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  The verse Happiness Comes in Waves is perfect fo this card.

Sunset Above

I used Paris Winter Watercolors   as the background. It was stamped with Memento black ink.   You  could be enjoying this beautiful city and wishing you were at the beach and enjoying sand and water.  I used a verse from Sunset Sentiments  in the sky.  The verse was stamped with Versafine black pigment ink and heat embossed with detail clear powder. I punched a hole in sticky paper for the sun which is setting in the sky.  The clouds were created using my Cloud Edger stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.

Dance With the Waves

Mermaids have been fascinating to people for hundreds of years.  Of course, they are not real but we are fascinated none the less.  I used the lovely Mermaid on Rock stamp, and tipped her a little.  She is colored with Copic Markers. The Big Wave stamp goes perfectly with her.  I used dye based inks and blending brushes and finger daubers to color the wave.  I used the Cloud Edger stencil for the sky with blending brushes.  Dance with the Waves is  a perfect verse to go with this scene I created.

The Free and the Brave

I first stamped Statue of Liberty on my white cardstock panel. I colored her with the Copic markers shown - YG11, YG03, and C1. I created a mask  with a large piece of "sticky paper."  I  placed the mask over Lady Liberty.  Then using my stamping platform I inked up the blue star field at the top and stamped it over Lady Liberty.   I reinked the stamp over and over again until I was satisfied with the intensity of the blue ink for the starry field.  I repeated the same process for the red stripes.

The verse is from a past release and is called Home of the Brave. It was heat embossed with detail clear embossing powder over Versafine black ink. Then I used a red dye-based marker to color in the letters.  I trimmed it closely, layered it and mounted it on the card.

Lessons from the Ocean

Two of the new June release stamps for Technique Junkies were used for this card.  The verse is Lessons from the Ocean.  The other stamp is Sea Frame.   I stamped the section with octopus twice.  I fussy cut it out and popped it up with foam dots to add more visual interest.

This Sea Frame stamp is also available in  a kit that Pat Huntoon has put together called Glittery Sea Frame Mini Kit  and it make a beautiful card.  In addition the technique used in this card kit can be applied in other situations with other stamps.  That always makes a kit and the lessons learned an even better value in my mind.

Peace Within

I used the beautiful Pier Sunset as the focal image for this card.  I colored it with Copic markers. Two die cut circles were used to cut  the image and to frame it.   I placed  The words Peace Within  on the white mat.   The words are from a stamp in the Sunset Sentiments collection of 5 stamps.  The words were heat embossed with detail clear embossing powder over  Versafine black pigment ink.  The blue background is dry embossed with a sea shell embossing folder.   I used my blue ink pad  an smooshed around the edges of the white mat.

Grief is Like Waves

I used Sea Waves  and blending  brushes to add color to the waves.  I used a dark teal ink to stamp Sea Waves. I stamped Big Wave in a light blue ink and then stamped  Waves of Grief in Versafine black ink and heat embossed detail clear embossing powder.   Repeating the same colors I brushed on for the background area, I added color to this panel.  I spritzed Dazzle Shimmering Bliss Topper over all.

Both of my parents, a brother, several in-laws, close friends, and my husband have all passed away.  I grieved for all of them.  And I experienced these waves of grief  described above in all family deaths,  but they were more intense for my hubby.  The difficulty was (and is!) I never knew when they were going to occur.  I am still "learning to swim" at times.  But you keep on keeping on, moving forward.  There is no other real choice!

Give Me Your Poor

I have two cards to share with you today.

This first one features the lovely Statue of Liberty,  And I stamped God Bless the USA  with Versafine black pigment ink.  I covered it with detail clear embossing powder and heat set.  I used a yellow dye based marker to color the letters.  I used a dye based marker because Versafine ink (even when heat embossed with clear powder)  is NOT a Copic friendly ink and WILL smear.    I added some fine sparkly elements on the torch and the bottom of the statue area.  I wanted to try and color Lady Liberty to look like she does in "real life."  That required a number of  markers and colored pencils as well.  I used several Copic markers followed by  regular Prisma color pencils -- not the blending ones.

The Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor in New York City, in the United States. The copper statue, a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and its metal framework was built by Gustave Eiffel. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886.

The statue is a figure of Libertas, a robed Roman liberty goddess. She holds a torch above her head with her right hand, and in her left hand carries a tabula ansata inscribed JULY IV MDCCLXXVI (July 4, 1776 in Roman numerals), the date of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. A broken shackle and chain lie at her feet as she walks forward, commemorating the recent national abolition of slavery.[8] After its dedication, the statue became an icon of freedom and of the United States, seen as a symbol of welcome to immigrants arriving by sea.

The torch-bearing arm was displayed at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia in 1876, and in Madison Square Park in Manhattan from 1876 to 1882. Fundraising proved difficult, especially for the Americans, and by 1885 work on the pedestal was threatened by lack of funds. Publisher Joseph Pulitzer, of the New York World, started a drive for donations to finish the project and attracted more than 120,000 contributors, most of whom gave less than a dollar (equivalent to $30 in 2021). The statue was built in France, shipped overseas in crates, and assembled on the completed pedestal on what was then called Bedloe's Island. The statue's completion was marked by New York's first ticker-tape parade and a dedication ceremony presided over by President Grover Cleveland.

The above information and more is available here.

This second card is basically the same except I have no sparkly elements on this card.    I used both the Statue of Liberty and God Bless the USA.  Then the verse at the bottom (which is only a part of the poem on the base of the statue) is COMPUTER  GENERATED and is not a TJ stamp.

You can read about the poem here.  In the base of the Statue of Liberty, the visitor can read some verses written in English of course. This is the poem "The New Colossus" by Emma Lazarus. This plaque was added in 1903 on the base, she was not there at the inauguration.

My second card features the new release of Deep Sea Collage.  The verse is Ocean Soul.  I colored it with Copic markers, and use some blending brushes.. to add color here and there.
