Ronald Edward Jackson unexpectedly went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, June 20, 2015, while vacationing in Florida. Born on June 15, 1944, in Rochester, N.Y., to James A. and Myrtle M. (Jackson) Jackson, he was the youngest of six children. He graduated from Greece Olympia High School in 1962.
He then attended Roberts Wesleyan College and graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. He worked for Eastman Kodak before moving to Kansas City, Mo., to pursue graduate work at Nazarene Theological Seminary. He attended there for two years, and during that time he met the love of his life, Judith L. Broward. They were married on October 19, 1968 and had three children. Ron began working for New York State's Department of Social Services in 1972, and remained there for the next 31 years. Upon his retirement, Ron and his wife relocated to Dover. He then began working for ACS State and Local Services, now Xerox, as a project manager, proposal writer, and analyst. In 2007, Ron joined The National Christian Choir as a baritone, and joined the choir's elite Second Edition in 2012. He was also voted onto the choir's Board of Directors. Ron will always be remembered as a godly, wonderful, vibrant, awesome, wise, and loving man who enjoyed a stupid pun and strange quirks of the English language, was an intense devotee of music in all forms, a devout follower of Jesus, a friend, brother, uncle, cousin, the best dad ever, a fabulous father-in-law, who treated his children's spouses as if they were his own kids, and the world's best Boppa. Ron is survived by his wife of nearly 47 years, Judy; his daughter, Joy Henley, her husband, Dan, and their three daughters, Elisabeth, Faith, and Veronica; his daughter, Jamie Hadarean, her husband Cole, and their three children, Ruben, Aidan, and Naomi; and his son, Stephen, his wife, Laura, and her children, Trinity Crane and Levi Baker. He is also survived by his five sisters, Doris Carnahan and her husband, Roy, F. Joyce Grasby, Patricia Rowley, and Marilyn Turpyn. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Myrtle M. Jackson; and his sister, Orma Lee. A memorial service celebrating Ron's life will be held on July 6, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene, 400 Stillmeadow Lane, York. The Rev. Vince Wood and the Rev. Bud Reedy will officiate. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Christian Choir. 17-B Firstfield Road, Suite 108, Gaithersburg, MD 20878 http://www.nationalchristianchoir.org/ -
