Our Flag

I know the summer Challenge ended yesterday, but this card is so appropriate for this week I want to share it anyway.  So Happy July 4th coming up on Saturday.    The stamp is a Technique Junkies stamp Last Breath.  I used patriotic background paper behind it.  I colored the flag with Copic markers and spritzed the image with Dazzle Shimmering Bliss Topper.

#Summer Challenge - Old Friends

I used two Technique Junkies stamps to create my card:

• Old Friends -  I colored the stamped image with my Copic markers.    The I sort of fussy cut around the sentiment, the ladies, and the boat.  I used only the boat for the envelope. I colored the boat with dye based markers direct to rubber.
• Clouds - I stamped the image with Memento Black Tuxedo ink.  Then I sprayed it with Ocean Depth Shimmering Bliss spray. 

I layered the friends on the boat scene over the clouds image, trimmed the needed extra, and added other layers. 

This would make a wonderful birthday card!

• Starfish -  I used Copic markers to color the image.  I sprayed Dazzle Shimmering Bliss Topper over the card.   I used dye based markers  over the stamp to stamp the image on the envelope. 
• Enjoy Every Moment -   I heat embossed this sentiment with a sparkly embossing powder.

#Summer Challenge - Floral Seahorse

I used three  Technique Junkies stamps:

• Whitecaps -   I stamped this stamps and heat embossed with detail white embossing powder  on pale blue cardstock. 
• Seahorses - The sentiment and the seahorses on the envelope come from this set.  The envelope was colored with Ink Blending Brushes.  
• Floral Seahorse - I colored this with Copic markers and fussy it out to attach it to flip tag.  

I used seaweed dies and cut some scraps of colored vellum with the dies.  

This was a fun card to create.  The tag was attached to the based card under the metallic layer.  There was a flap about two inches and was scored at 4 inches and adhered with red line tape to the base layer.

#Summer Challenge - Land on Both Feet

I used two stamps to create this card:

• Flamingo 1 -  I used Twinkling H2Os on the flamingos on the card.  I used a mask and stamped  the flamingo four times.  I sponged the water at the bottom. I used the Ink Blending Brushes on the envelope.
• Balance On One Leg - I stamped the sentiment with Versafine black ink and heat embossed with detail clear embossing powder.  
• I used the Interlocking Leaves Stencil  from A Colorful Life Designs Stencils for the background.  I used the Ink Blending Brushes to add the color through the stencil and to add a bit of the coral color.

#Summer Challenge - Colorful Seahorses

All of the  stamps on this card and envelope are from the set Seahorses.   This was a very simple card and an experiment.   I used three shades of Distress Stains and sprayed  those shades on a non porous surface.  Then I stamped the stamp into that ink -- stamping the ink into white card stock.   It was stamped randomly and then again on the envelope.   I stamped another seahorse on a scrap of cardstock and trimmed it.  I inked the shell stamp in the pool of blue on a scrap of cardstock.  Then the verse was heat embossed over black Versafine ink.

I used Vintage Botanicals Collage which I colored  with the Ink Blending Brushes .  I used the Lace Doily stencil from A Colorful Life  Designs Stencils to color in the background.  

The sentiment is from Fairy Garden - heat embossed on vellum.  I used adhesive from my Xyron machine.

I used Watercolor Birds for the focal image and on the envelope. I used watercolor pencils on the envelope. I used Copic markers on card.  I used a sponge and a homemade cloud stencil for the sky.  The sentiment  is Always Find a Song.

#Summer Challenge - Challenge and Change

I used an unusual "stencil" for the background.  The "stencil"  is really just the netting from a bag of lemons.  I sprayed Ocean Depth Shimmering Bliss over the netting.  I had also sprayed the back side of  the netting with Pixie spray. 

I used the lovely leaves from Being a Family.   I stamped them in blue dye based ink and fussy cut them out.  I stamped only the fern from Best Things in Life  in green ink.  I "loosely"  fussy cut around the ferns.  Then I layered and arranged them over the background.   I stamped the sentiment Change You  in black in Versafine ink and heat embossed with detail black embossing powder.  It was adhered with  adhesive from a xyron machine.

#Summer Challenge - Thoughts of You

The rose image was water colored with Twinkling H2Os, and the background uses Lace Doily Stencil from A Colorful life Designs.   I used the ink blending brushes  to color through the  stencil for the background.  

The stamps I used are:

• Stylized Roses
• Artistic Mess
• Sentimental Sayings 

I used dye based markers direct to rubber  to color the envelope.

I layered die cuts of  vellum that had glitter embedded in the vellum.  I have no idea what company makes that velum because  I have had it more than 20 years.

I used Rose Frame  for both the focal image and the envelope.  I colored the  envelope with ink blending brushes.  The sentiment comes from the set Sentimental Sayings.

#Summer Challenge - Walking on Sunshine

I used Hibiscus Panel and Walkin' on Sunshine as the sentiment.  I colored the flowers with Copic markers and some areas I used the ink blending brushes to add color. 

I used Triangle Doodles from A Colorful Life Designs Stencils  for the background and the envelope. I used two shades of Shimmering Bliss sprays to add color through the stencil.  I created  a mask of the flowers on the stamp so the spray would not get on the colored flowers. I used the same stencil and sprays on the envelope.

#Summer Challenge - Dogwood

I used Dogwood Blossom and Lace Doily for the sky behind the flowers.  I used a stamped platform so i would be sure to have the orientation exactly the same on all three panels.   I colored the flowers with Copic markers.  After the flowers were colored than I used the ink blending brushes to add blue ink through the stencil.

For the envelope I added color from dye based markers and "huffed" on the stamp to remoisten the ink on the stamp.  I stamped it three times.  Each time it was slightly paler.

#Summer Challenge - Voice of the Sea

I used three stamps for this card:

1.  Palm Trees -  I used a stamping platform to stamp the  palm trees.  I used dye based markers direct to rubber to color different sections of the trees.   I did a small area at a time.  I kept adding ink until all of the details showed up. Then I cleaned the stamp still on the platform lid.  I added Versamark ink and  heat embossed  with clear embossing powder.  I did this while the card stock was still inside the stamping platform. I removed the palm trees stamp. 
2. I added the  Mermaid on Rock stamp.  I used copic marker to color the mermaid and the rock.  I used a sponge to add the water.   I used a sponge and a home made cloud stencil to create the sky.
3. I used a sentiment from Seahorses and heat embossed it  with clear embossing powder.  

I used watercolor pencils to color the image on the envelope.

#Summer Challenge - Mermaid on A Rock

I used three Technique Junkies Stamps:

• Whitecaps - I stamped the waves in white pigment ink about half way up on the card.  I heat embossed it with white detail embossing powder.  I used sponges and finger daubers to add ink to the ocean water.  Then I buffed off  any ink on the embossed  areas.  I used blue ink on the envelope. Then I used a sponge and various colors of ink with my home made cloud stencil for the sky.
• Mermaid on Rock - I painted her with Twinkling H2Os.  Then I fussy cut her out leaving cardstock below the rock. I used my Slice exacto knife to cut a space in the ocean to slip the cardstock below the rock through.   I attached the mermaid with adhesive. 
• Stir Your Soul -  I cut the wording in half so I could make it fit in places where a long sentiment will not work.  I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment after I firmly attached the mermaid.

#Summer Challenge - Meet Me by the Sea

I used Vintage Lighthouse, Whitecaps, and Sky Touches the Sea to create this card and envelope.

I used the Ink Blending Brushes  to add color to the envelope, and the water on the card.   I used a sponge with several ink colors and a homemade cloud stencil to create the clouds.  I used the Slice cutting tool to cut a slit along the waves and slipped the lighthouse  inside lining up the colors of the clouds in the sky.  The sentiment was heat embossed  on vellum.  It was adhered with adhesive from my xyron machine.  The few places with color on the lighthouse were added with Copic markers.

#Summer Challenge - Making Waves

I used three different Technique Junkies stamps to create this card and envelope.  I used:

1. Dolphin  - colored with ink blending brushes on the envelope, and with Copic markers on the card
2. Whitecaps  - stamped with a medium blue ink, and shaded in with the ink blending brushes
3. Never Stop Making Wishes - I used on;y the verse from this stamp and heat embossed it.

I fussy cut the  four stamped and colored dolphins.  I used an exacto knife called Slice. I made four slits following the wave design and slipped the dolphins into the slit.  I adhered the dolphins to the "water" using glue dots.  I used  opaque white paint, and puffy, while stuff that is heat embossed to create the "white foam."

I used Starfish for the background and the envelope.  Different areas were sponged with color and then spritzed lightly with Dazzle Shimmering Bliss Topper.    I used  Beach Answer  for the focal image.  I colored the image with Copic markers.  I added some Prills at the edge of the sand, and yellow embossing glaze  to highlight the sand.  I used the Blending Brushes to color the envelope.
