I used the very cute Stand Tall stamp.   A long time ago, I cut away the words on this stamp so I could just use the giraffes if I wanted too.  However, I left any extra rubber around the words so the two pieces fit together like a puzzle.  I used one of very old Kaliedacolor ink pads to add a variegated color range on the giraffes.  And I sponged the sky.

I used two stencils with Shimmering Bliss sprayed over them to add interest and two shades of color to the background.

This was a fun card to make!

Many Paws

Anyone who has followed my blog for very long knows that I really like using the Antique Glimmers technique from the December 2009/January 2010 Technique Junkie Newsletter. It just gives a great and unusual background.

I also like experimenting with this basic  technique  and seeing what I can use with the basic instructions.  This time I used the Aladine IZINK Liquid Pigment inks. What I immediately discovered was that these inks, while a liquid, are not very runny. So they require a liquid to thin them for this technique.  You can either use plain water IF you are using the PEARL version of these inks.  If you are using the MATTE version, then you will need to add some water and then add Dazzle Shimmering Bliss to get the shimmer and glimmer in Antique Glimmers.. 

The Many Paws stamp is such an amusing stamp -- especially for those (like me) who finally finished that time in my life where I experienced many, many moments of my very own personal summer!

Let Your Light Shine

This is a wonderful stamp of a lighthouse, and a wonderful challenge to all us.  Let Your Light Shine fully encompasses that challenge.    We need to live fully and we need to live our lives doing and BEING what we believe in. It was colored with my Copic markers.  I used the Kaisercraft Gel Pens to add some sparkly highlights.

She Was Beautiful

I paired this Veiled Woman with Beautiful and Brilliant and I think it goes together very well.  She is colored with Copic markers. I think of this woman as having a classic beauty much like Audrey Hepburn.   However, even Audrey Hepburn was troubled with her own self image.  All too often we do not understand how beautiful we are.  Things that strike most people as physical beauty  never really define the beauty in a person.  Physical beauty changes and fades as we grow older, but what we are inside doesn't.  I have seen people who have "physical beauty" but on the inside are mean and vindictive.  And I know people who do not have what we call a great deal of physical beauty but are truly beautiful inside -- where it really counts. So I say to you - be beautiful, especially on the inside!

Watch The Leaves Turn

Leaf Twig is a perfect stamp to pair with Leaves Turn.  Both stamps were with Versamark and heat embossed with detail gold embossing powder.  I used Twinkling H2Os to paint the leaves on the black card stock.

Like a Tea Cup

This summer I have trying to use up some of the stores of supplies in my stamps room.  I am sure I am not the only one who has stuff you haven't looked at since the day you bought it. I have made a small dent and I do mean small.  But Like A Teacup goes perfectly with this background paper.

Life is Beautiful

The Apples Background is such fun to watercolor!  Then I added Life is Beautiful and heat embossed it.  I tired to get the apples to have a realistic look because apples are not just red.  There is usually yellow and green hues on the apple skin.

Red Echinacea

I used the Echinacea  stamp and inked it with a pale color.  Then I watercolored over that pale ink. It gives the water coloring a "no line" look. I used some markers to add details.  There are lots of tutorials on the internet for this "no line" water coloring.

I added Life is Beautiful and heat embossed it with detail black embossing powder.

After I had finished water coloring, then I sponged the sky.

Gratitude

Pumpkins and Autumn -- they just go together don't they?  The Pumpkin was stamped in the middle, and then masked before I stamped the other two pumpkins.  Then I stamped the with gratitude from Autumn Framed Sentiments.

I water colored the scene with Twinkling H2Os.  Then I added a few varying green sequins.

Shimmering Bliss Leaves

 I love, LOVE using Shimmering Bliss sprays!  They have a way of being able to take a card from pretty to a WOW! card.  There are three shades of Shimmering Bliss on this card.

First I stamped Vintage Botanical Birch with white pigment ink on white card stock. Then I covered the image with white embossing powder and heat set it.  The Shimmering Bliss was sprayed over the card stock.  The embossed leaves resisted the sprays, and I was able to just wipe it off.

Leaves Turn was heat embossed with white embossing powder on colored vellum.  I adhered the vellum to the card front with a Xyron machine.  It is the perfect embellishment!

Pumpkin Time!

I used a die cut oval frame, and rubbed some silver pigment ink over the embossed areas. The frame -- well, framed the Pumpkin.  I water colored the pumpkin  with Twinkling H2Os.

Hope is Stronger is a wonderful encouraging thought  when facing a difficult situation.

 I thought Roses made a perfect background for the verse.

I watercolored the roses with the new to Technique Junkies Aladine Liquid Pigment Inks.  They are very concentrated so they needed some water to be "water colors."

The Leaves Turn

The top layer is vellum heat embossed with detail black  embossing powder. The verse, Leaves Turn, is an admonition to all of us.  There are lots of things we need to take time and just watch.  Those things may only a few moments in time to treasure in our hearts!  Some of those things like enjoying the "firsts" of a baby - smiling, laughing, eating, crawling, walking, and so on.  Watching that "baby" read his/her very first book! First bike ride. When a loved one is in the final stages of their life with us. And all of those things not mentioned.  Don't be so busy  you do not have time to notice the "little things" that will become precious memories in the coming years.

I watercolored free hand over the outline of the leaves. It is any one's guess as to where the edges of the leaves really are.

As the leaves begin to change colors, we all begin to think of the next season to come - autumn!  The colors are beautiful but I always feel sad at this time of the year. People wonder why?  Because autumn leads to brrrrrrrrrr - winter, cold, snow, yuck, yuck, and yuck weather.  I so thoroughly dislike winter. 

There are only a very few things good about winter. Apple trees need winter to grown crisp apples the next autumn. Maple trees need winter to make sap good enough to make maple syrup in the early spring. Do you know why it is so expensive?  It is a labor intensive task to make the syrup!  It takes 40 gallons of sap that must be boiled down to make one gallon of maple syrup. Somebody has to stir that sap as it boils down.  Kids like to play in the snow.  I like watching the grandkids doing that from the inside of my warm house.  But there is not much else that is good about winter.

Christmas in September

When I first saw this new Technique Junkies background stamp, Drizzle Dots, I immediately thought of a Christmas card background.  I inked with Versamark, and heat embossed detail gold embossing powder.  It is framed by metallic gold paper.  Sadly, the shimmer and shine of this paper doesn't show up well in a picture.

TJ The Greatest Story was also heat embossed with detail gold embossing powder.   A few red sequins add some embellishments.

This beautiful Apple Background stamp celebrates this apple month just great.  I stamped it on black card stock with Versamark ink, and heat embossed it with detail gold embossing powder.  Then I painted the scene with Smooch Inks.  A few sequins embellish the card.

Then this card celebrates the time of life when many women experience their "own personal summers" no matter the temperature outside!  I used TJ Drizzle Dots for the background. Several colors were used.  TJ Many Paws is for the focal image.

I do not know where Pat finds these funny statements like Bad Memory,  but it is another great one. And it just seems to go with TJ By Us!!  Don't you just wonder what these two have been up to?  I sure do.  The background was sprayed with two shades TJ Shimmering Bliss.  The shimmer is just beautiful!
