An Adventure

For most of my life, when I went on an adventure I went with my family.  So using Slimline Elephant Family with the verse from Road Trip was just a natural pairing.  I used direct to paper to create the ground with brown and green inks.   I used blending brushes to apply ink using the Cloud Edger Stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.

Deepest Sympathy

I used Big Cracks for the background.  I  wanted it to look like porcelain or marble so I kept turning my card stock and changing ink colors to create the look I wanted.    Then  I stamped Praying Hands and colored them with Copic markers ad fussy cut them out and raised them with foam dimensionals.  The verse  comes comes from the With Sympathy set.  It is heat embossed on colored vellum and attached with Xyron adhesive.

Layers and Layers

I stamped Japanese Cranes  on watercolor paper with black Versafine ink.    I added color with dye based markers and then added several layers (at least 5!) of clear embossing powder.  Then I bent it several times to create a "cracked glass" appearance.  I spread red ink over all and then wiped it off after it had sunk into the cracks a bit.  I used various pieces of fun papers for the background building it up in layers.

A Life Long Treasure

No Line Watercolor

The background is a lovely 3D embossing folder highlighted with dye based inks with a very stiff sponge.    The focal image is Blooming Dogwood Blossoms.   I used FadeOut No Line Coloring Detail Ink.  Then I water colored the image.

Traveling on Foot

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

I created four different St. Patrick's Day cards this year.   The first set of three are really the same except for where I place the initial greeting. I saw this die on Simon Says Stamps and ordered it.  I had already made a bunch of cards for this occasion but I just HAD to make a few more!!  I had in mind to make shaker cards with this die!  And I did!   Three of my 8 grandies will love these! The first card uses a stencil from Simon Says Stamp plus some stamps.

I will just say now I have no idea who made these St. Patrick's Day stamps.   I have had these for years, and years.  When I unmounted these stamps from wood to EZ Mount years ago -- blogs were almost new and few people had them unless they were big time demos for stamp demos like Tim Holtz!  I am certainly  not in his league!  And I never thought to have a need to know who made what stamp!  

I have had the die or dies  for this set of cards for a long time as well.  The piercing cover plate is new but I don't remember where I got it.

The four-leaf clover is part of a Tim Holtz Impresslit called Lucky Love.  Lots of vendors sell it.  The background paper is from Stampin' Up.  

No Technique Junkies cards today!  There will be on Saturday!

Seeing Double!!

These two cards have the very same layout but with very different colors.  I wanted to show you how different cards can be only by using different colors.   I stamped the Zen Edges on the bottom and top edges of the card wit the greeting in the middle.  The verses are I Believe in You and  Family is Everything.  I  used blending brushes and Distress Oxide inks for the color.

Japanese Crane

The background is an embossing folder.  I used a very stiff sponge and ink to apply color to the embossed edges.  The stamp is Japanese Cranes which I colored with Copic Markers.   I used direct to rubber with a dye based markers to apply ink to the grass and bamboo plants. The cranes were inked with Memento black ink.

Family is Everything

I don't know about your family, but my family is full of loved ones who look very different from each other. Curly hair, straight hair, blue eyes, brown eyes, various shades of skin tones and brown, red,  blonde haired folks.  I love them all.  To symbolize  the different looks that "family" can have I used Faces of Diversity for the background, and Family is Everything for the greeting.

I didn't color all of the faces but those that are colored are colored with Copic markers.  I sponged colors here and there.  The greeting is heat embossed on vellum.
